Aristeal and Joana's Superstition Mountains Elopement was a dream come true. For them, and for me. Of course, every elopement I do is a dream but this one allowed me to help a couple get out of their comfort zone.
When the two of them reached out to me about their elopement, the first thing they had to do was get something off of their chest; they wanted something small and intimate, surrounded by the beauty that Arizona has to offer but had reservations as they don't go hiking much and wouldn't consider themselves the "adventurous" type. My response?
"All the more reason to elope!"
imagine experiencing something for the first time with the person you'll be spending the rest of your life with? Something you otherwise wouldn't be doing. I can't think of anything more symbolic of what getting married is like than that. A shared experience to start off what will be a lifetime of shared experiences.
Everybody has different comfort levels and ideas of what an adventure is. One person's idea of an adventure is horseback riding. Someone else's could be a picnic in the park. Another could be skydiving or scuba diving. Off-roading. Mountain climbing. Zip lining. The list goes on and on. An adventure is also hiking one mile.
An adventure is doing anything for the first time.
And on this day, Aristeal and Joana did just that. They eloped and went on a hike. I knew an elopement at Superstition Mountains would be perfect due to its iconic beauty and not being too strenuous of a hike to experience it. It was an astonishing day, and we were met with incredible light that lit up the cholla and mountains perfectly, only to be outdone with how stunning the two of them looked. We all had a great time and they hiked further than they expected. We even stayed well after the sun had set. I keep up with the two of them and am happy to report that, together, they go hiking every week now.
